Layers Mean Added Weight and Restricted Movement.
A full suit (top and pants) weighs less than 11 ounces, even
in a downpour. We designed our jackets and pants for golfers.
Our customers soon discovered that our outer wear was great
for camping, cycling, and any sport done outdoors. If you can
do it, you can do it in the rain with a Category 5. Other rain
wear relies on a series of processes, treatments, and layering
to create windproof and waterproof fabric. The result is a heavy
rain suit that restricts movement and is too hot. A multi-layered
rain jacket can weigh up to 30 ounces. In addition, other materials
actually absorb some of the water they are supposed to protect
you from.
The result is a heavy suit that gets heavier in the
rain and hampers your movements even more. Category 5's Millennium SRL 2000 fabric is different. It starts
as an incredibly light and strong fiber that is then treated
on both sides creating a miraculous waterproof, light, breathable
fabric that is virtually indestructible. SRL 2000 maintains
a comfortable body temperature in any weather. Instead of weighing
you down, water beads up and falls off the fabric maintaining
its light weight even in a downpour. As a result, your movement
is not restricted. more>>
